Grab your helmets and rsvp below!
When: Monday 8/24 @ 6:30 pm
Where: Meet at Longfellow blacktop
Who: 6th Graders and anyone they'd like to bring - siblings, family and friends!
We will be led by a local Instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists to teach bike safety and handling skills.
There will be similar rides from other D97 schools, but feel free to share this info widely as the goal is to encourage all Julian and Brooks students to learn their route to school. Even if you would not be going on this exact route to school each day, it's a great opportunity to gather and have some fun while biking.
And there will be popsicles!https://tracker.oak-park-bikes.com/?fbclid=IwY2xjawTx3WFwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4IQZ0KjI1otY-ZSNdWBdlLH6BlSBl3WmHpM1MgYsZFHRZf3dqJ1vcM2miJlQ_aem_GMbf5skvhBiuOTCDn5ESuw

The special Longfellow tradition of our kids parading to school on the first day being led by an amazing jazz band will continue!  The details and a map of the route are below.  Parents and kids are welcome to join in the parade at any point along the route and we will stick to the times listed below to make it easy for anyone to pick a location to join in the parade. This is one of the best Longfellow traditions and a great way to get your kiddo(s) excited about the first day of school.  Hope to see you there!

PARADE ROUTE DETAILS:

7:30am: band will assemble at corner of Scoville and Van Buren.
7:35: parade will start going Eastbound on Van Buren towards Ridgeland
7:42: parade will turn North on Ridgeland (on east side of Ridgeland) and kids from east side of Ridgeland can join in parade at Ridgeland/Van Buren
7:46: parade will turn East on Jackson and arrive on playground at approx 7:50am
7:50-8:10: band will play on playground until all students have entered the building
